Spring Nasturtium Moribana, April 2017

It's difficult to create ikebana in a house full of cats. First, they drink all the water in the dish and the flowers dry out. Then they knock everything over and eat it. It can be very dangerous, too, because some plants are toxic to cats. I am very careful not to bring toxic plants into the house.
I love nasturtiums. Spring is a marvelous time in our backyard. Our tomato, two kinds of squash, green beans, dahlias, sweet peas, Persian cucumber, corn, and red pepper have been planted. It rained a lot, too. Everything is going crazy with the water.
I like the way nasturtiums stretch up to reach the sunlight and I wanted this moribana to reflect that. My Amerikabana is revving up for this season.
